Why cant I add an alternate email address?

I would like to switch my y-answers contact email over to a complete other email address that is already set up. Why or how can I do this? I have tried just putting it as an alternate, but it wont let me. I really want it completely separate but don't know how to get it done. The help section isn't helping much. Any hints? TKS!

Why cant I add an alternate email address?
Make sure that you are completely signed out of that other address before trying to add it. If the Yahoo! Answers "Edit My Profile" doesn't allow you to add the alternate address, it could be that you make or have two completely separate Yahoo IDs for use in Yahoo! Answers. That's against community guidelines.





You can either try creating an extra address on your existing account or creating a new profile on your account. Either way, you should try clicking the "Add Alternate Email address" link in your "Edit My Info" area to go through the process after you do either of the below two options instead.





EXTRA ADDRESS:


For Yahoo! Mail beta:


1. Click Options in the upper-right corner of your Mail page and select Mail Options.


2. From the list on the left, click Accounts.


3. The second half of this page is called "Extra Mail Address." Click Get Started and follow the instructions to create an extra mail address.





Note: When you create an extra mail address, it appears in the list of Yahoo! Mail accounts shown on this page. To help prevent spamming, an extra address can only be changed twice in one year.





For Yahoo! Mail (original):


1. Click Options in the upper-right corner of your Mail page.


2. Under “Management”, click Mail Addresses.


3. In the “Extra Email Address” section, click Get Started.


4. Either type whatever new address you’d like to try (we’ll tell you if it’s already taken), or use one of our suggestions on the right.


5. Click Choose.





Now your extra address appears in the list of Yahoo! Mail accounts shown on this page. To help prevent spamming, we only allow you to change your extra address twice in one year.





NEW PROFILE ON EXISTING ACCOUNT:


- Click the "My Account" link at the top of the page next to your "Sign Out" link.


- Sign in and click the "Edit/Create Profiles" link on the right of the page.


- Click the "Create A New Profile" button at the top. Go through the process. You can make one profile the default rather than the other if you want. Click the "Finish Editing" button when you are done with any page.


- Log out. Then, log back in using your new profile name and same password.





NOTE: It is not possible to set up an additional Yahoo! Mail account for each Yahoo! profile. This means that your profile will share the same e-mail address as the initial profile and all messages will go there. If that does not work for you, then I recommend setting up a completely new Yahoo account.

Help! I need to know how to change the secutrity on my yahoo email address?

someone has been using my email address to send out ecards to people that i dont know. The only reason i know about it is because i got a copy of the cards by email that where sent. I know (at least i am 99%) who is doing it but how can i get it to stop with out changing my email address and all my contacts?

It was setup through yahoo its on the internet its not on your computer you can't delete it. Now if he installed something like yahoo messenger or something that opens every time you start your computer you can delete that by going to your add/remove programs and removing it. Otherwise an email address through yahoo is just on the internet you can't delete it. If he is still using it he is probably still accessing on other computers. and if he doesn't have access to any other computers then just leave the account alone yahoo will eventually delete it, its not on your computer don't worry.now if when you click on a yahoo link and that account is automatically logged in you can stop that by either logging in with a differant account or clearing out your cookies (temporary internet files stored by the browser) you do that by going into your internet browser tools %26gt; or options menu and clicking clear your temporary internet files. also that auto log in will reset after a few weeks it will ask to verify the password just don't enter and log off yahoo and try again and it should forget the account. Or next time you see your grandson ask him to remove it and if he is a loving grandson he will help you remove it.

Is it possible for a business to stop a person from having an email address similar to their companys name?

Without knowing all the details, it's hard to say but generally if a company has trademark or prior common-law rights to their name, then they will have the rights to enforce their rights.





But names are not protected "across the board;" certain parameters apply:





1) Are the names similar in Sound, Appearance or Meaning?





2) Are the industries the same or similar to one another?





3) Are the names confusingly similar to the average consumer? In other words, could customers be confused and assume that both companies are affiliated?





Here's what the USPTO has to say about this matter:





"The principal factors considered by the examining attorney in determining whether there would be a likelihood of confusion are:





the similarity of the marks; and


the commercial relationship between the goods and/or services listed in the application.





To find a conflict, the marks do not have to be identical, and the goods and/or services do not have to be the same. It may be enough that the marks are similar and the goods and/or services related."





It's best to contact a private search company or a trademark attorney to assist you in determining if this will be a problem or not.
